Free computer prank ideas - PrankCo
Auto correct prank Most word editing software
such as Microsoft word has an "auto correct" feature built in that corrects common misspellings for
you on the fly. But there is also a way to edit the words list and add
your own. Just for fun, change common words you know your victim will
use often, such as a company name, or replace words like "the" with
"teh". Bonus points if your victim calls IT or bangs their
keyboard in frustration.
Clipped
One of our favorites. Stick a
paperclip into a copier and make a bunch of copies, moving the clip around a
bit so each copy differs slightly. Place those pages into the paper
feeder so your mark will use that paper to print their next job. They
will probably think the first couple are a fluke, only to come to the
conclusion that there is a rogue paperclip floating around the machine.
Stop them before they call a repairman or try to fix it themselves.
Substitute this for a torn piece of paper, or something more random like a
stamp.
Disabled icons First, minimize all
of the applications so all you see is their background. Then hit the
"print screen" button to capture an image of their desktop.
Copy (Ctrl+c) that into an editing program such as mspaint and save as a .bmp
or .jpg. Next right click on the desktop and save that image as their
screensaver, and then from the same menu disable all desktop icons. They
will be presented with an exact replica of how they last saw their desktop but
won't be able to click or open anything!
Fake hard drive format Wait
until your mark leaves their computer running, and then close all of the
programs. Simply type "format c://" into the run bar (start
> run) and then unplug their mouse & keyboard. They will go crazy
trying to stop the process and will be so freaked out they won't think to
check the connections.
Google language change If your
victim leaves their computer unattended for a min. go to google (or their
engine of choice), and change the language settings to Armenian, or
Latvian. With google, just go to "preference" on the homepage
and it is just a couple clicks. If you want to be more subtle choose a
non-American English speaking language, like Australia. And of course
Arabic will turn all of the text backwards.
Image switch First, make a backup of
the images or files you are about to copy. Important! Just move
them to another folder & rename that so you can find it easily. Then
replace their images or files with something that is sure to embarrass them or
drive them crazy, or both. Bonus points if you get them to send those
files in or if they are for an important project.
Mouse pranks There are several
things you can do to a computer mouse beyond simply unplugging the usb
cable. Why, you can put clear tape under the mouse ball or even
uninstall it so that the computer won't recognize it! And if you do
unplug it make sure to leave it hanging in there enough so that it stays, but
not that it gets a connection.
New
hire What better way is there
to break a new employee in than a good prank? You can do practically
anything as long as you get the entire office to play along. For
instance, convince them not to look the boss or supervisor in the eyes.
Or not to begin work each morning until the boss says "and
begin". Whatever you do it just has to be repeated for a week or
more for it to become habit for them.
Ransom prank Take
one of your co-workers favorite objects & hide it. Then, perhaps a
few days later leave them a ransom letter with outrageous demands they must do
in front of everyone. Bonus points if you make the note out of cut up
magazine letters.
Screensaver
fun Change your victims
screensaver to something risque' -- a quick google search should bring up a
few ideas. If you want to go a little further, open the display settings
& set a screensaver with a password. Once the screensaver starts
they won't be able to turn it off without your password. If you want to
take that even further, find that file (.scr) in windows\system\ and create a
shortcut onto the desktop. Move that shortcut into the startup menu and
it will activate each time the computer boots up, locking them out.
Un-secure hard drives One last note,
if you are trying to access a hard drive that is locked then this rudimentary
hack may do the trick. Open up a new Microsoft word document and type a
few letters. To create a hyperlink in that document (to C:\, for
example), just highlight it and press Ctrl+k. It won't get past sophisticated
software but may get you into a locked computer lab.
